Liola (pronounced lye-ola) was one of the very first names I came up with. It took me a long time and a long list later to realize that one of my first ideas was the best! I am often asked if Liola is my name, but it isn’t!
All soap is made with lye and oils. I combined these two words and came up with Liola!

Liola Luxuries is a small business. All of the soap is made by hand with lots of care and attention. By shopping for naturally made soap, you are supporting a family, local economy, and your skin! Liola is made with ingredients you understand.

How you store your soap between uses will determine how long it will last. To maximize how long it lasts, make sure your bar is dry between uses without any standing water. It’s best to use a dish (like these ones) that allows drainage.

All soaps are best used within a year. The longer the soap sits, the more the scent might fade. If the scent has faded, the soap is still safe to use.

We offer free local pick-up in Port Moody, BC and free shipping on all orders over $100. All other shipping is a flat rate of $15.

Cold-processed soap needs time to cure before use. Soap is technically safe to use after the saponification process. This takes 24-48 hours after the soap is made. With that being said, the soap will not last long and will be a soft bar. By allowing the soap to cure for 4 weeks, the water left within the soap can evaporate and crystal structures can form within the soap. You then have a harder, longer lasting bar. When you buy a bar of soap from Liola, it was actually made over a month ago!

Each soap is handmade in wooden soap loaf molds. When it is poured, the swirls and designs will differ from bar to bar. We try to keep the designs consistent throughout but no two bars will ever be exactly the same. That’s the fun of buying handmade soap!

Those numbers are referred to as CI numbers (colour index). The colours I use are cosmetic micas. For labeling in Canada, it is mandatory to use International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients (INCI) which includes CI numbers for all colourants (rather than just putting “mica” on the label).
